Driver Education Registration

Please send your payment, completed registration form (2018 Driver Education Enrollment Session III) and a copy of the student’s learner’s permit to the address listed below. The cost is $450 for residents, $470 for non-residents. The registration deadline for Session III is March 28, 2018. Please select your drive groups, listing your choices in order of preference. First priority will be given to resident seniors, then resident juniors, then underclassmen and non-residents. Every effort will be made to accommodate your request. You will be notified by email or telephone and a list will be posted in the high school if you have been accepted and enrolled. If a registrant did not get into the session, they will be notified in writing and placed on a priority list for the next session.

Driver Education Program Details

Enrolled students will receive instruction in the classroom, behind the wheel, and on the road as required by New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. Those successfully completing the class will receive an MV285 certificate that gives the holder the privilege to receive a Class D operator’s license when reaching age 17, allowing them to drive after 9 p.m. Students must be 16 years old and hold a valid NYS Driver Permit or License to be eligible for the course. The Pre-Licensing 5-Hour Course material is included in Driver Education. The loan of a text is included in the class fee. Most insurance companies will offer a discount on compulsory car insurance upon request.

Classroom instruction:
  • ALL students must attend ALL classroom instruction in Brockport High School Room 192 as scheduled from 3:15 – 4:45 p.m.

    Please note: Student must be present for the first theory class to be allowed entry into the course. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the first class. (Late arrivals will not be admitted and, if registered, will forfeit course enrollment). No early dismissals from theory class allowed.

      Students must have the following for theory class:
    • Permit/license
    • Notebook/folder
    • Writing materials

    • Students must be prepared with the following for each car class:
    • Permit/license
    • Sunglasses are encouraged
    • Appropriate footwear (ie: no backless sandals)
    Driving groups:
    will start and end at the high school student parking lot. Driving classes may be rescheduled at the instructor’s discretion due to inclement weather. Should a make-up driving class be requested by a student due to extenuating circumstances, the instructor will reschedule at his discretion. Driving groups may be rescheduled to place four drivers in each time block. Every effort will be made to accommodate rescheduling conflicts. However, the instructor reserves the right to create a schedule that is most effective in terms of number of students scheduled for each driving group. Scheduling of or transportation to the road test are not included. Parents or other qualified adults should plan to devote time for enrolled students to practice the skills learned in this class. Only experience and good judgment makes a safe driver. A current NYS Learner’s Permit must be brought to all classes.
