Brockport High School Mission

Our diverse community will work to personalize our students’ education through open communication, modeling expectations, and providing a trusting environment that is tolerant of others. We will collaborate to provide the skills needed for our students to succeed in the 21st century. In doing so, we will prepare our students for post secondary education, the work force or military, and develop productive citizens who are critical thinkers and value life long learning. Additionally, we expect our students to meet or exceed New York State and National Academic Standards and to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Philosophy

In our continuing efforts to utilize research (Breaking Ranks II, 2004) to guide our decisions and practice, three interrelated core areas (Personalizing Your School Environment; Collaborative Leadership; and, Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment) have been identified as factors that are positively linked to student achievement. Consequently we offer a comprehensive educational program geared to meet the individual academic needs of all of our students.

The success we experience is attributed to the three interrelated core areas. A caring faculty and staff, a diverse academic program (3-1-3 with SUNY Brockport; Advanced Placement Program; vocational training through We-Mo-Co; 85 minute block schedule with advisement; small class size; Project Lead The Way) and numerous clubs and activities are available to our students. In addition, we take a collaborative approach when making decisions.

We are proud of our school’s tradition and reputation and value our community’s continual support of providing a quality education for our children. In 2004, our efforts were recognized as Brockport High School was selected as one of thirty schools nationwide as a model high school by the International Center for Leadership. Also, in 2007 the New York State Education Department recognized our high school as a “high performing/gap closing” public high school.

If you are in need of additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Gary C. Levandowski, Ed.D.
