NON-INSTRUCTIONAL OPERATIONS
5680 SAFETY AND SECURITY

It shall be the policy of the District to take every reasonable precaution for the safety of the students, employees, visitors, patrons, and all others having business with this District.

It shall be the responsibility of the Superintendent of Schools to execute this policy. In order to have a comprehensive program which will meet the needs of the District:

a) The responsibility for developing the total safety program may be delegated to a
competent, professional staff person who in this matter will be directly responsible to the Superintendent, and shall be provided with authority commensurate with the task.
b) This staff person, acting in an advisory capacity to all heads of major units within the
District, shall be responsible for the promotion and development when requested, of an
aggressive accident prevention and safety education program for professional and nonprofessional personnel employed by the District.
c) The general areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to in-service training,
accident record keeping, plant inspection, driver education, vehicle safety programs, fire
prevention, school site selection emergency procedures, and traffic safety problems related to employees, students, and community.

Student Safety
All staff who are made aware of physical and/or verbal threats to students must immediately report these threats against students to the next level of supervisory authority for prompt action. The immediate supervisor must then inform the Superintendent/designee, including any action taken, after learning of such threats to students.
