Brockport Releases Reopening Plan

Brockport Releases Reopening Plan
Posted on 07/31/2020

Brockport been working diligently to develop a Reopening Plan for our district. This has been a tremendous undertaking, and we would like to thank everyone for their input, suggestions and recommendations. It has truly been a team effort with assistance from the Board of Education, Brockport Administration, staff, students, families, community members, physicians and elected officials.

Given the NYS mandates and the input we’ve received from our Return to School Advisory Committee, subcommittees and the various survey results, it is clear a hybrid model will provide the safest environment with equitable instruction for our district.

Our reopening plan was submitted today to New York State for review and approval. Attached is copy our plan and a one-page infographic. It is also posted on our district’s website.

As you will see, the hybrid model will consist of two days of in-person instruction with three days of remote learning. English language learners and some students with disabilities will have four days of in-person instruction with one day of remote learning. We will provide a full remote-learning option for those families who are not comfortable sending their children back to campus.

An adjustment to the school calendar is also being recommended that may delay the first day of school for students until September 10 or 11 depending on your student’s cohort.

In the next few weeks, we will be sending a form to identify your intention to have your child(ren) participate in the hybrid or remote model and your transportation needs for the fall.

Thank you, again, for your patience as we work through this process.
