Seventh grade students heard from two veterans as part of their current ELA unit. For the unit, students are reading the novel Ground Zero by Alan Gratz.

OMS Assistant Principal Matthew Hennard and retired OMS Teacher Richard Wiest spoke with students about their experience serving in the military as a result of September 11, 2001 including where they were when they heard about the attack, why they joined the military and what it was like to be stationed in Iraq (Mr. Hennard) and Afghanistan (Mr. Wiest).

Following their presentations, Mr. Hennard and Mr. Wiest answered questions from students regarding their time in the military and how it compared to Ground Zero.
