Walk to School Organizers Recognized with Brockport’s Best

Brockport Central School District honored four dedicated volunteers who have continually helped make International Walk to School Day a success in our community over the past 17 years.

On Tuesday, November 15, the Board of Education recognized the outstanding efforts of Dr. James Goetz, Ms. Kristy Hart, Ms. Rosie Rich, and Ms. Debbie Wahl in supporting our Brockport students as they strive to make healthy choices and build life-long healthy habits.

“Walk to School Day is a long-standing tradition that our students, staff and families look forward to every year,” Board of Education President Terry Ann Carbone said. “It is all thanks to a core group of individuals here tonight who volunteer their time to bring this health-conscious and fun event to our students.”

In the group’s nomination, it was said that the event “is fun for students and adults, promotes healthy living, and is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect.”

As a district, we would like to thank our recipients for the countless hours they spend planning, organizing, and prioritizing the health of our community.
