Barclay Overview

Our Barclay School kitchen was built 70 years ago with modest food prep space and a single serving line at a time when the majority of our students brought their lunch and buying a school lunch was a special treat. Today, we serve more than 300 breakfasts and 350 lunches daily at no cost to students and families (financed by state and federal funds). Due to the single serving line and small food prep space, we are not able to serve meals in a timely fashion which negatively impacts instructional time and student lunch time. To meet current needs and codes, we are proposing constructing two serving lines. These updates will increase our food service efficiency while providing increased instructional time and lunch time for our students.Barclay Timeline
