FAFSA

  • The U.S. Department of Education's Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a vital part of ensuring that students are eligible to receive federal financial aid. 

    In response to complaints of FAFSA being too cumbersome and complicated, the U.S. Department of Education is making major changes for this coming year, including:

    • A Later Open Date
    • Fewer Questions
    • Increase in Number of Colleges to Receive FAFSA Information
    • More Home Language Options
    • Automated Data From IRS
    • New Funding Formulas
    • Automatic Pell Grants

    There are several sessions offered by Federal Student Aid in this virtual bootcamp, but two in particular are related to the new FAFSA! They are as follows:

    1. How to prepare for the 2024-25 FAFSA form - participants will learn about federal financial aid eligibility, how to create an FSA ID key changes, and how to complete the 2024-25 FAFSA form.
    2. Prototype preview - participants will be guided through a demonstration of the 2024-2025 FAFSA form.
