Special Olympics New York has announced that Brockport High School, already a Special Olympics Unified Champion School, is receiving national banner recognition for its efforts to provide inclusive sports and activities for students with and without intellectual disabilities.

This distinction marks the highest level of achievement for Unified Champion Schools in the country, recognizing their leadership in creating inclusive school communities where all students are accepted and celebrated.

Brockport High School, now one of only 57 schools across New York State with this recognition, is receiving this distinguished status after meeting 10 national standards of excellence in the areas of inclusion, advocacy and respect.

“Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools are the most inclusive schools in the country, and Brockport High School is one of the best of the best,” said Stacey Hengsterman, president and CEO of Special Olympics New York. “Congratulations to the entire school community, and thank you to the students who have come together as teammates, friends and leaders to make this achievement possible.”
